I am new to using QuickBooks online. The parent organization is in the US but I am based in Uganda. The home currency is USD but I enter transactions in Uganda Shillings (UGX). I want to know how can I extract reports in UGX. Now I want a Trial Balance but It always comes in USD. Can someone tell me the steps to extract the trial balance in UGX? Please help
Reports will be generated using your home currency. You can export trial balance reports to XLS and manually convert them to UGX. If you only register transactions in UGX, you should consider using UGX as the home currency.
Welcome and thank you for choosing QuickBooks Online, @Charleskaro.
I can share some information about running Trial balance report in your local currency.
The Trial balance report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) summarizes the debit and credit balances of each account on your chart of accounts during a period of time. This will be generated using your home currency which is USD. It converts foreign currency amounts to home currency values so your reports include all transactions.
For more information about multicurrency in QBO, check out this article: Set up and use multicurrency in QuickBooks Online. It'll show you how QuickBooks uses exchange rates to show how much a foreign currency transaction is in your home currency value.
You can follow the workaround provided by Fiat Lux - ASIA above which is to export your report into an Excel file and convert them manually to UGX currency. Refer to this article for detailed guidance on how export the Trial balance report: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.
See the following article for detailed guidance on how to generate other reports in QBO and filter them to show specific accounts based on your needs: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
