Hi Everyone,
Has anyone had any issues with the total balance line of the Trial Balance not calculating correctly? When entering a transaction into the bank ledger, the total is not changing the total balance line.
Hi elibeth224!
We can simply reload the report. I'm here to help you.
Once you made changes, go back to the Trial Balance report and click the Refresh button at the top. This way, the data of the said report will be updated.
QuickBooks Desktop has an option to automatically refresh the report after a change has been made. Follow these steps:
If the same thing happens, you'll want to rebuild your company data to see if this behavior is due to a damaged company file. You can check the detailed steps here: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Do you need to personalize your financial reports? Check this link: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
I'll be here if you need more help. I'm looking forward to assisting you again.
Thank you for your help Alex. Yes, the auto refresh is on and we have verified and rebuilt the file many times. In addition, we have inquired with QB support and Data Services with no solution. No one seems to have seen this problem, which with millions of users, I cannot fathom. I have even created 2 new files and the issue has persisted where we enter a transaction directly into one of the bank account ledgers and it does not update the Trial Balance total balance.

Before we do anything else, let's ensure QuickBooks is updated to the latest release. This helps apply the necessary patches that fix common program and file issues.
You might've already tried this during your call but let's run the Tool Hub utility to fix the calculation issue:
If it doesn't work, you can repair your QuickBooks Desktop copy to fix the damaged components. This article can help you with the steps: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
After fixing the issue, do you need help with your bank reconciliation? This article can guide you through the process: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you have something else to share about other reports, please let me know. I'll be around to help. I can also assist you in accomplishing other tasks.
