Two custom inventory related reports - help?

We’re trying to create two inventory-related reports customized so we can pare down the results to what data we actually need, and we're having a hard time getting there. I’m attaching a couple of screen shots. Any help would be very much appreciated!

  1. A report that we can print out and take along to check inventory status. We only want it to only show items that are below the minimum reorder point. All the reports we've found and tried to modify haven't worked. Of course, in our Items list we can sort by bin location, reorder point or QoH, but QB gives us no way (that we know of) to create a report with only the items we're concerned with or even export to Excel. The best we can do is sort the list the way we want and export the ENTIRE list to Excel.

  1. We have a lot of inventory items we've purchased in the past that we now only order as needed. We created a custom field for bin location and if we don't want to keep reordering, we set the reorder point at 0 and put NS (non-stock) in the bin location. At inventory time we know not to bother looking for those items because if ordered, they would have been billed to a specific customer. When we do the search certain items, we’d like it to omit these NS items but again, we can’t get a report without showing ALL items.

ASIDE: I think it’s a huge oversight that we can’t get a report – or even export to excel – results of a search in an item list. Example: When I search for air conditioners, I only want to concern myself with all air conditioners and their related parts in our item list. To create that list I have to take a screenshot (see attached), paste it into Word, and print it out. I can’t add lines for my notes or a count or anything, but it’s the only way to get the data I need on paper. Isn’t it ridiculous to have to go through all that when QB should be able to just give me that info on a report?

Two custom inventory related reports - help?

Hello, AmericanRV.

Currently, the report that only shows items that are below the minimum reorder point is unavailable in QuickBooks. As a workaround, you may consider utilizing a third-party app that integrates with QuickBooks.

I'll get this opportunity to tap our Product Development Team to bring in this feature. Rest assured, our Product engineers are striving hard to develop the best features to suit the needs of our customers.

In the meantime, you can visit our Blog site. This is where we share recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features. The new things are always rolling out for QuickBooks to make work easier. Here's the link: The QuickBooks Blog.

Check out the Import or export MS Excel files article for additional reference about the exporting feature. It provides instructions for each type of information you want to export outside the program.

Please reach out with me here if there's anything else you need, I'm determined to ensure your success. Wishing you and your business continued success in all that you do. Have a great day!

Has there been a report developed yet to show items below reorder point?  I, too, could really use this report!  Thanks.

The report would really be helpful.  Being able to sort by vendor would be very helpful too.  Thanks!

Hi there, @AK1215.

I appreciate you for getting back to us here on this thread. I can see the importance of running a report that shows items that are below the reorder point, and sort them by vendors.

I want to ensure customers like you are having the best possible experience while working with QuickBooks. I'd appreciate it if you could introduce the idea of running this report in QuickBooks Desktop to our product development team. Your suggestion would be a big help in letting our developers identify which product features are most helpful to our customers.

Here's how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Help menu, then tap on Send Feedback Online.
  3. Select Product Suggestion.
  4. Choose the type of feedback you want to send.
  5. Enter your feedback or ideas for product improvement on the feedback Web page that appears.
  6. Click Send Feedback.
