Two Part Question: How do I assign a class to a particular account on Chart of accounts on QBO? Also, how would I assign a class when its locked by Commerce?

I'll share details and help with your question about assigning classes, jsco2289.

QuickBooks Online allows you assign classes to transactions for easy reporting. However, putting classes to accounts in your Chart of Accounts is currently not possible.

More details and guidance on how to use the feature are shared in these articles:

Also, details will become read-only once you integrate QuickBooks Commerce with QBO. This is to make sure that there's a seamless integration between the two programs. You'll need to reach out to QuickBooks Commerce to be able to make some changes. Here's how:

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right hand corner of your QBO account.
  2. Type in "Talk to a human" in the chatbox, then press Enter.
  3. Select Get help from a human.
  4. Click Chat with us or Have us call you.

Please take note as well that QuickBooks Commerce does not support classes in QuickBooks Online for now. Let me share this FAQ page for additional information: Frequently Asked Questions About QuickBooks Commerce and QuickBooks Online.

I also have other articles to share in case you need more guidance when tracking sales and working in QuickBooks Commerce:

Hi. Thanks. Yea I track classes just fine with other transactions. Some of my Amazon transactions from commerce go to my amazon class, but others do not. It’s weird.

It’s weird. Some of my Amazon transactions from commerce go to my Amazon class, but others do not. Wish there was a way to assign a class to an account. This way I can just say for amazon expense they are grouped to this class. My other transactions pick up just fine to their classes.
