Using a balance sheet report with comments for a new period

I would like to use a QuickBooks report with comments for a new reporting period.

It appears that I must reconstruct the comments and new period.   Is there a way where the old report and

be modified and saved with new report period?

Using a balance sheet report with comments for a new period

Thanks for getting back and adding some details to your concern, @Linduca.

I've got some details to help you with commented reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

The option to generate a duplicated commented report for the new period in QBDT is unavailable. However, we have the option to save them and find them from the Commented Reports on the Reports menu. This way, you'll still be able to have a copy of the old report with your comments.

In the meantime, you can send this feedback to our Product Development Team. Thus, we value your suggestions as we take your recommendations constantly while making product updates. Here's how:

  1. From the top menu bar, choose Send Feedback Online.
  2. Click on Product Suggestion.
  3. Click on the drop-down for Type of Feedback and select Product Suggestion.
  4. Select the Product Area, then enter your thoughts and suggestions.
  5. Once done, select Send Feedback

Check out the Feedback forum page to see a list of other QuickBooks users who have already suggested this feature, as well as the recent updates in QuickBooks.

In addition, this article can help you modify your reports according to your needs: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to reply below if you have further questions about managing your reports or want to share your practices using QBDT. I'm very eager to help. Take care.

Using a balance sheet report with comments for a new period

Hello there, Linduca.

I'd like to provide accurate details about your concern. Can you provide a screenshot of the comments you mentioned? While waiting for your response, please know that QuickBooks Online gives you the option to create a custom report for a specific period.

You can check this article for more details. Customize reports in QuickBooks Online using modern view. My also colleague also provided some information about your concern. Visit this link to view the complete details: How to save custom report changes as a new report.

You can post anytime if you have more concerns.

It is showing in what is called a commented report.   To the right of the balance sheet line in question, I can create a box with a number.  At the bottom of the report, the box with the number I can write in/provide some detail that I want to share.   It is not referred to as a custom report but rather a commented report.   It seems that, in fact, the commented report cannot be duplicated for a new period.  In our case, the comments would not have changed nor would the line items on the report so this would have avoided some duplication of effort.
