You can always customise your invoice template that's ideal for small businesses in the UAE. Before we begin, may I know what QuickBooks Online version are you using?
Our developers have added three main features into QuickBooks Online to be compliant with the new tax law for UAE. These are the new set of VAT codes, an option to enter transactions by location, and a form for the VAT return.
Before you design your template, you may need to set up your VAT first. Here's how:
If you don't see the VAT option, you may be using the QuickBooks Online version for the United States. You may need to use another version that'll work for the VAT requirements.
Please check this website for the QBO version that's VAT compliant: Simple steps to ensure you are VAT Ready.
I want to know if you have additional questions or any clarifications by leaving a comment. It's always my pleasure to help. Take care!

I have same problem along with a lot of UAE customer.
The vat calculation per line is still not avaliable even after the update. It does not work it only shows in preview but does not print at all.
Find the attachment, this only shows VAT AMOUNT at the time of editing the invoice template. As soon as you save it and try to print it does not print.
In short QBO is not FTA UAE VAT compactible.
Hi there, RGT2000.
We recently added new features to make VAT filing easier for QuickBooks Online users in the UAE.
Three significant changes have been made: a new set of VAT codes, the ability to record transactions by location, and a new VAT return form. You can find more info and common questions about the VAT feature in this article: VAT Feature Update FAQ.
I've also included a link to the detailed steps that will guide you in setting up the sales tax: Set up and use sales tax in QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to let me know if you need anything else aside from VAT-related concerns. I'll be here to assist. Have a great day!
Hello, I think you misunderstood my question. I am not worried about the tax codes or VAT filings, they all work properly.
The problem is with the invoice, its not as per FTA VAT UAE Laws. Every line needs to have tax calculation for the specific product/service.
For Example:
ProductA = 10 AED (Rate) - VAT 5%(Tax Rate) - VAT Amount 0.50 (Amount) - Total : 10.50 AED
ProductB = 20 AED (Rate) - VAT 5%(Tax Rate) - VAT Amount 1.00 (Amount) - Total : 21.00 AED
The problem we are facing is the VAT Amount per product per line is not avaliable. The tax calculation is only shown below the invoice which is total tax.
Tax has to be shown individual as per product on each line.
Regards
Hello, RGT2000.
In QuickBooks Online, the ability to add VAT (Value Added Tax) amounts per product per line is not available. QuickBooks Online uses a different approach to handle VAT calculations.
Instead of adding VAT amounts per product per line, QuickBooks Online uses tax codes to apply VAT to transactions. You can set up tax codes for different VAT rates and apply them to your products or services. When you create an invoice or sales receipt, QuickBooks Online will automatically calculate the VAT based on the tax code assigned to each line item.
I can definitely see the value in adding the VAT amount per product per line in QBO. Don't worry our developers are working hard to enhance the user experience and provide more efficient features and functionalities to streamline processes and better meet the needs of businesses. If you have any suggestions or ideas for additional improvements, I suggest sending feedback directly to the product developers. They always look for ways to enhance the product and may consider your ideas for future updates.
Here's how to send suggestions:
Alternatively, you can look for a third-party application with the functionality to support your business needs.
Let me also share this article about tracking VAT for additional reference: How Do I Set Up Sales GST/VAT Rates And Use Them On Forms? (International QBO). In case, I'll add this article for future reference: VAT Feature Update FAQ.
