We make our own products, rather than buying them from a supplier. How do I add in new inventory without creating a bill?

Since sales come through quickly, I don't want to change the inventory quantity as a whole in case I miss calculate. I want to add in the quantity of inventory we received and let the software calculate what's on hand.

Hello there, @usermollie.

There are two options to add a new inventory. You can either create a bill or utilize the Inventory Qty Adjustment to adjust or change the quantity on hand calculation.

Since the first option is not what you're looking for, you can follow the steps below to add a quantity of inventory or make changes to the inventory:

  1. Select + New.
  2. Select Inventory Qty Adjustment.
  3. Enter the Adjustment Date.
  4. In the Inventory adjustment account drop-down, select the appropriate account.
  5. Select the products in the Product field. Note: The description and current quantity on hand auto-populate.
  6. For each item, enter either a new quantity or a change in quantity.
  7. Once done, click the Save button.

When creating an inventory adjustment, QuickBooks automatically creates the Inventory Shrinkage account. If you wish to select another account, you can simply click on the drop-down arrow under Inventory adjustment account. Then, select the correct account you want.

I've gathered some articles that contain more information and tips about handling inventory items in QuickBooks Online:

Please let me know if you have other questions as you go along with the process. Take care and stay safe always.

@usermollie

QBO doesn't offer the assembly feature. You need to have an additional app to do so.
