What is the difference between a paid and closed invoice?

Hello, @4feldw.

I'm here to help share information about the invoice statuses in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The status of the invoice are Open, Overdue, Partially Paid, and Paid. When the status of the invoice is Paid, it means that the invoice was already paid and a payment was already received.

On the other hand, the Closed status is not for the invoice, it's for the payment. When the payment's status is closed, it means that the payment was already applied to the invoice.

You can see attached screenshot for additional reference.g7 invoice status.PNG

Also, for your future reference about QBO, you may check our Help articles: Help articles for QuickBooks Online.

I'll be glad to help you if you have any other questions about invoices, just add a post/comment below. Have a good day ahead!

Why does the closed payment have a negative amount and what do you mean when you say that the payment is already applied to the invoice?

Hi there, Ramy2.

I can see that you also asked the same question about the negative amount in a separate thread.

Let me route you to this link so you can read and follow the steps in my colleague's response: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/reports-and-accounting/re-what-is-the-difference-b...
