When entering expense, payment account changes from selected when saved

I frequently have this problem when I am entering an expense. A payment account is populated when I open a new expense, and I select a different payment account for it to come out of, then I save and close. But payment account switches back when closed from bank account A to bank account B. It doesn't happen every time which is almost more frustrating because I'll get complacent and not check the account register after each entry and then have to go piece together which expenses didn't post correctly and fix them.  I have tried saving, making sure the account is correct, then save & close, but today that is not working. I'm sure it's simple, but I can't figure it out in help topics. Anyone know a fix?

I'd like to help you make sure that the correct payment account is used, Austin20221.

There are times that too much saved and cache data in your browser can cause unexpected results when performing a task in QBO.

If you have a different browser in your PC, switch to it while creating the transactions. You can use Chrome, Mozilla, or Microsoft Edge.

Alternatively, you can also follow these keyboard shortcuts to open an incognito/private browsing session if you only have one browser:

  • Ctrl Shift for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift P for Firefox
  • Control Option +if you're using Safari
  • Ctrl Shift P for Microsoft Edge

After that, create a couple of expenses to check if the payment accounts are not going back to the old one. If it's already working fine, delete your browsing history by following these steps: Clear Cache and Cookies to Fix Issues When Using QuickBooks Online.

I'll be sharing these articles as well for additional guidance when reviewing vendor-related transactions.
