When I try to upload products to QuickBooks online using a CSV file all the products show as non-inventory. how do I change that?

it only gives me the option of non-inventory or services no matter what the actual quantity is in the file I'm trying to upload.

Which QBO Plan do you have? If you are using Simple Start or Essentials, you should signup for a new Plus account and cancel the old one. The discounted rate is not applicable when upgrading/downgrading your plan.

Hello there, @thankszon.

I'm here to help import your products into QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before we start, you'll want to know that the inventory feature is only available in the Plan and Advanced versions of QBO. If you're using the Simple Start or Essentials versions, it's the reason why QuickBooks doesn't give you the option to select inventory when importing your products.

However, if you've got the required version, you'll want to ensure the inventory tracking feature is turned on. Once done, re-import your products into QBO. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then select Import Data.
  2. Select Import products and services.
  3. From the Select a CSV or Excel file to upload field, then click Download a sample file.
  4. Once downloaded, check the file format and save it.
  5. Then, go back to the Import products and services page and select the sample file.
  6. Click Next.
  7. From there, check if you can select Inventory under the Type column.
  8. Also, make sure to check the BuySell, and Track boxes.

I'm adding this article for more guidance: Import products and services into QuickBooks Online.

You may want to run a report to see inventory status and performance. This article will guide you through the process: Use reports to see your sales and inventory status.

Please know that the Community forum is always open to help you again if you need more assistance with this. Have a great day ahead!

we have the advanced package and the inventory tracking tool, yet we don't have the inventory option on product type. I have even tried it with the sample file and the only portions we get are service and non-inventory
