Hello @B Heider,

Let me help share how the changes of your assembly affect your inventory items in QuickBooks Desktop.

Normally, moving your assembly will only change the date from the previous month to the current one. You don't have to worry about the inventory as long as you have enough quantity on hand of all the component items.

In the same manner, here's an article you can read to learn more about your assembly items: Track the products you manufacture.

On top of that, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Manage Inventory for QuickBooks Enterprise.

If you have any other questions, please let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.

I think to clarify it would a pending build order that had to wait for inventory in the prior month that has the date changed to the current month.

I appreciate the screenshot that you've shared, @B Heider.

Since a pending build order is non-posting transactions. It will not affect your inventory for that specific month. Also, as mentioned by my colleague above, just make sure you have enough quantity on hand of all the component items.

However, if the Quantity on Hand of the inventory parts is not enough, you'll have an option to mark the assembly as Pending until you restock. You can use this link for reference: Combine your inventory items to build finished goods.

Also, you can open our QuickBooks Desktop help articles and scroll down to the Inventory and projects section in case you need additional reference while working with your inventory in the future.
