When you pay a contractor via "check" are they mailed a check?

Thanks for becoming part of the Community, bcurry-mysolarpr.

You can either pay contractors with paper checks or direct deposit. If you pay them with checks, you'll need to write them.

Be sure to set your contractor up with a vendor profile first. Afterwards, you'll be able to create a paper check for them.

Here's how:

  1. Set up your printing preferences if you haven't yet.
  2. In the left navigation bar, go to Payroll, then Contractors.
  3. Use your drop-down list next to the contractor's name and choose Write check.
  4. From your Bank account ▼ drop-down, pick an account the check withdraws from.
  5. Complete your check fields.
  6. Click the Print check option if you want to open your check queue to print now, or hit the Print later checkbox to print later.
  7. Select Save and close or Save and new.

After printing a copy of their check, you can pay it to your contractor by mailing it to them.

I've also included a couple detailed resources about paying contractors which may come in handy moving forward:

Another option, you can signup for a free Melio account and pay your contractors with checks. You don't need to prepare anything and they will mail the checks for you. You can also cancel the check anytime easily if required.

You can also get $100 cashback to pay your first bill.
