Why am I unable to change a Contractor status from active to inactive?

Good day, @kimorred.

To make your contractor inactive, ensure that they don't have unpaid invoices or bill transactions.

If there's none, I'd like to know if there's an error when you attempt to inactive your contractor. If you encounter no error, let's work together to fix this.

You can perform some troubleshooting steps to determine if this is a browser-related concern. Let's start by logging in to a private browser to avoid cache files that cause lag. Check out the shortcut keys below.

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Then, make your contractor inactive. If it's working, clear the cache of the default browser to remove accumulated data.

If the issue persists. utilize another supported browser. It might be that the current one you're using has a temporary issue with the program.

After performing the steps, and you're still unable to change contractor status, feel free to contact the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Care Team. They can check your account in a safe environment and find a fix.

You might set your contractor's pay to direct deposit. Check out this article: Pay a contractor with direct deposit.

I'm glad to have you here. Come back if you have additional questions about managing your contractor's list. I'll be willing to lend a hand. Keep safe, and have a good one.
