Why are the Vehicle expense accounts not in the same account type as Car and Truck?

We had to create a Vehicle expense account with many sub accounts since all the Vehicle sub accounts already existing were not in the same Expense Account as Car and Truck.

Why are the Vehicle expense accounts not in the same account type as Car and Truck?

Hi there, alan-j-yurkovic.

Nice to see you here in the Community. I'd be happy to provide some clarification regarding the expense accounts.

The Car & Truck expense account is a default account created by QuickBooks as a suggestion based on the answers you provided when you created the account. That said, you have the option to use it or create a different account for vehicle expenses that works for your company.

Lastly, please be sure to reach out to an accounting consultant to ensure these accounts are the best suite for your business. With Intuit's Find-A-ProAdvisor site, you can search for certified professionals in proximity to your ZIP code that can discuss options more personal to your business's needs.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you succeed with QuickBooks. Thanks for reaching out, wishing you all the best.
