Why does the Chart of Accounts Page not show the Subaccounts indented (in the tree format ) any longer. It now lists them all MAIN/SUBACCTS without a Tree Format

The sub accounts now have a Grey text Italic (of the Main Account saying its a Sub account) instead of being in the Indented Tree format. What happened to the Chart of Accounts Screen?

Hi there, SlopperStopperDriplessWaterBowls.

I'll help you change how the sub-accounts are being shown in your Chart of Accounts. Here's how:

  1. Go back to your Chart of Accounts.
  2. Proceed to the header of the Type or Name columns.
  3. Double-click on it to change how the accounts are shown.

Just in case the sub-accounts aren't still indented, you can clear your temporary internet files just in case a browser issue is causing this. Here's an article as a guide: Clear Cache and Cookies to Fix Issues When Using QuickBooks Online.

You can also check out these articles just in case you will need them when managing your Chart of Accounts:

I've cleared temporary internet files and double clicked on name and type columns.  The chart of accounts still does not return to the "tree" format.  Help!

I want to make sure you're able to view the subaccounts in your QuickBooks Online account.

Were you able to complete the troubleshooting steps listed above by clearing the browser cache? If so and the problem is persisting, I recommend reaching out to a member of the QuickBooks Online Support Team. Agents have specialized tools, such as the ability to share you screen, and take a closer look at the issue. Here's how to get in touch with the team:

1. Click the Help button in the top right corner.
2. Select Contact Us.
3. Enter Support in the field and choose Let's talk.
4. From here you can select to receive a callback at a time that's convenient for you, or begin a live chat session with an agent.

The following article provides these steps if you ever need them again in the future: QuickBooks Online Support

Please don't hesitate to reach back out here if you need a hand with your Chart of Accounts or anything else. Take care!
