Hi,
I am at the final step of e-file the 1099. I signed out and back in and the error remains the same. What to do? What does it mean?
Thanks in advance.

Hello there, @lanoo. Congratulations on your final steps in submitting your 1099. I'll help you clear the error code you're getting so you can e-file your form in no time.
There are times when the stored cache on your browser can cause this error and any odd behavior while working with QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can try opening your account using an incognito window to test and see the result.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts to save you time:
Then, file your 1099s from there.
I'm also adding these articles for more information:
If it works, clear the cache of your main browser to remove browser history. However, if you're getting the same message, I suggest reaching out to our QBO Support to investigate this further.
In case you need to make amendments to your filed 1099s in the future, see this article as your guide: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.
I appreciate you for reaching out. If you have follow-up questions, let me know by leaving a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!
I cleared the cache, browsing history, and cookies and still get the same error.

Will do. Thank you.
I've been on the phone with support for almost two hours. They can't / don't help. It's beyond absurd. Always excuses. No substantive knowledge about what's causing the error, possible ways to address, what's going to happen to the 5 p.m. deadline if problem isn't fixed by then, etc. They actually had the gall to say I should just file my 1099s manually and mail to my vendors manually. This company wouldn't survive if there was any real competition.
I have the same problem. Contacted customer service twice this week and still no news. Did you hear from them? QBO customer service isn't even open over the week-end, apparently. Would love to hear how many companies have had this problem. I did contact one I know and they didn't. Starting to panic....
This is directed at QBO customer service: We have now passed YOUR deadline for timely filing and mailing. What will you do about that?! Do I have to run out on Monday to buy forms to mail? How will the required e-filing be on time?
This is a bad product and bad customer service.
BTW, we used the QBO efiling system last year and it went flawless. So whatever change was made since (except raising the price!) caused this error. Shouldn't take a week to fix......
Very disappointed.
I've heard nothing back. Support promised to call me yesterday evening. They didn't.
I appreciate you for getting back to this thread, @Ron127.
As mentioned by my colleague above, this is a known issue and is already reported to our product engineers. Rest assured that they are continuously working to find the root cause of this error and provide a fix.
Since you already contacted our support team, let's simply wait for an email or update.
Please check our operating hours also to see when you will be able to reach an agent.

This is crazy and irresponsible of quickbooks!! I am also having this error. They better fix it by tomorrow!
Just got off the phone with support. They said it should work in about an hour.
It is still not working for me...still getting that same error code. When will it be fixed.
Hello there, @AP56.
Currently, we're unable to get updates on the status of the functionality. Our engineers are still working to find a quick solution to this problem.
In the meantime, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team regarding this matter. They can review the investigation and add your company information to the notification list.

Let me know if you have more concerns about filing forms and anything related to QuickBooks.I'm always here to help.
Sunday morning, still not working :-(.
I've ordered the forms from Staples and can print them out myself if needed. My bigger concern is the IRS filing. I believe we must file electronically and I don't know how to do that - if not with QBO. Has anybody used the Adams efile kit?
The problem being known and being worked on is not sufficient. Understanding the problem and possible work arounds is what would be helpful, neither QuickBooks nor you have provided any of that. From another user I got the idea to have another person with access to my company try it, and that did work. Why isn't QuickBooks telling people to try this? And why does this even work? These are the things that might be helpful to users, as well as telling users what QBO is going to do to help them get the 1099s done whenever the problem is fixed -- but QBO isn't doing any of this / anything actually useful while its users are left hanging. (And even worse, some of what is said is wrong, e.g., telling me they'd call back when they didn't call back, or even e-mail.) Pathetic.
See my comment above (I'm not allowed to post it again as would be appropriate to this message).
If you have anyone else with access, have them try it. That's how I got it done -- have someone else to it. No thanks to QB.
I’ve used formswift in the past and a few other efile 1099 services that are actually cheaper than qbo but then I have to pay for it and get reimbursed by client
having same error message on qbo this year as you guys
Hi Barbara,
Hope you got your 1099's filed but if not, here is what we did. I had the same problem with 1099's and error code 81705. I contacted customer support and we were able to e-file, but by using the admin login only. Seems too easy but it worked.
Diana
Dang it! I was hoping this solution would work for me. I didnt get the error message last year but am getting it this year. I called my accountant (the only one with access to my QB) to see if he could do it for me but he got the error as well. Ugh. I feel the same way you did. Why cant QB help with a workaround?
I ended up having the client login and finalize the filing and it worked. If you can sign in as your client it will work.
