1099 GL mapping

QBDT Pro+ 2023

When mapping GL accounts to a specific 1099 type and the box(es) on that type of 1099, I am curious about the sort order that the GL accounts appear in the display box on the left portion of the screen.  It almost seems as if the sort is random, as the "type" of account (i.e. income, expense, etc.) doesn't all appear together ... it jumps back and forth among them. I haven't been able to find a way to create a sort for that display and it is terribly inefficient the way it currently appears. Does anyone know why the sort order is so jumbled up and if there is a way to organize this display to put some order into the task? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

And separate question: Does anyone from the Intuit design group ever read through these questions / comments. I frequently get a response from a QB person telling me to go to the "Send Feedback Online" area and make a request / suggestion for an improvement to QB. I couldn't count how many times I get that response in a very detailed description of how to do it, when I've already done that many times. Wouldn't it be more efficient (for users) if the creative group paid attention to what users are experiencing or asking about instead of making users spend twice as long by communicating with the Community and then separately sending the same feedback to the creative group. Just sayin' that it would be more customer service focused to try to save users time and effort instead of making us spend more of our time .....  Or is it just me?

1099 GL mapping

Hello there, Al. Let me guide you in sorting out your accounts and making them organized.

In QuickBooks Desktop, you can use the resort feature to fix your jumbled accounts to make them in order. This process will return all changes made to its original form. You can follow the steps below to sort them on your end:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click the Account dropdown, then select Re-sort List.
  3. Select OK to confirm.

On the other hand, I understand how challenging it can be when a feature you need isn't available. Please know that our design team reads all your requests and is considering them for product updates. We also appreciate your feedback in helping us improve your experience.

Additionally, you can add, edit, or delete accounts from your chart of accounts to manage them.

You can reach back if you have other concerns about managing your accounts or have any QuickBooks-related queries. We'll be here to assist.
