Good morning, @DPeronteau.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope you're having a great day so far.
Account mapping for 1099 filing is an annual task in QuickBooks. For this reason, you'll have to do the mapping again each year.
Please always ensure you have the latest payroll updates to avoid any payroll errors. Here's how you can do it:
- Open QuickBooks, click on the Employees menu at the top, then choose Get Payroll Updates.
- Hit the Download Entire Update checkbox.
- Select Download Latest Update. An informational window will pop up once the download is complete.
Once the update has been completed, you can check if the accounts are properly mapped. This complete guide: Create and File 1099s with QuickBooks Online, provides more information on managing 1099s.
If you continue to have mapping issues, I recommend using the Rebuild and Verify tools to scan and repair any damage that may be in the company file.
I also want to mention that I understand how it would be helpful to have the 1099 mapping for accounts saved. This would save time as you won't have to start from scratch every year. With that said, I think this is the perfect opportunity to send this suggestion to our Product Development Team. Our Developers review each request and consider them all for future updates. You can use the link I'm including below to send your request.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I'm always happy to lend a hand. Take care!
