All of a sudden (a constant issue as we all know), many of my NON-taxable food products are now taxable. How can I BATCH change sales tax on these?

I am trying to save time - I don't want to have to change each food product to no sales tax - I want to do it by batch if possible. Irritating.

Hello there, big-axe.

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I can provide guidance on updating inventory items from taxable to non-taxable.

We have the ability to change inventory items from taxable to non-taxable, however, the option to edit/update the inventories in bulk is unavailable. You may need to update the items individually.

Updating the items in bulk saves time while working with your inventories. If you think this option is what you need for your business, I suggest sending product requests/feedback straight to our product developers to be considered in future updates.

To send you product feedback:

  1. Go to the Help icon in your QuickBooks Online.
  2. Click Send feedback online, then select Product suggestion.
  3. Fill out all necessary information. Click Send feedback.

For more details on managing your sales tax and how we calculate it, you can check out this article: Set up and use automated sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

Please refer to this article for guidance on formatting when importing a list of products or services into QuickBooks Online: Import products and services into QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have any other inventory concerns, I'll be here to keep helping. Have a great day ahead!
