Anyone in New Mexico using QuickBooks automated Sales Tax?

QuickBooks is breaking up the New Mexico Tax into State Tax, County Tax, and City Tax. When I pay sales tax in NM the entire rate goes to the ONE specific tax location, it is not broken up into three, which means the sales tax report it worthless when trying to calculate and pay my sales taxes. Also, QuickBooks never pulls a straight county tax, so it appears it only pulls on the zip code which pulls the higher city tax rate, however, most of our work is in rural county tax code areas. Does this mean that I need to do my NM sales tax manually and enter and correct my own rates? Is QuickBooks going to fix this issue for the State of NM for their automated tax rates?

Anyone in New Mexico using QuickBooks automated Sales Tax?

I understand how upsetting it can be to have inaccurate tax calculations affecting your business finances, MelMack1. I'm here to help you resolve this situation.

QuickBooks automatically adjusts sales tax rates based on the sale's location, including state, county, and city rates, and regularly updates these rates to comply with legal changes. Given the tax calculation issues in rural county areas, it is crucial to consistently verify that these updates and rates suit your local needs since your services are mainly delivered in unique jurisdictions within New Mexico.

In the meantime, you can utilize the custom tax rates feature. This means you can manually input specific rates for different regions or specific types of transactions, ensuring you charge the correct amount of sales tax even when the automatic calculations aren't able to pull the data accurately.

I've included information on how sales tax is calculated and displayed in your sales tax liability report to help you better understand the process and ensure accurate records.
