Follow these steps:
1. Access the chart of accounts. Go to the Chart of Accounts in your QuickBooks account and look for the account set up for tax payments or ACH transactions. This account is likely linked to your payment.
2. For QuickBooks Online. Navigate to the Taxes tab. Locate the specific tax payment and review its details. It should indicate which account is being used for the transaction.
3. For QuickBooks Desktop. Open the Banking menu. Select Use Register and open the register for the account you believe is associated with your payments. The register will show the transaction and its linked account.
4. Check payment settings. In QuickBooks Online, go to Settings -> Payments to see the bank account linked for ACH payments. In QuickBooks Desktop, verify the preferences under Edit -> Preferences
-> Checking to see the default account for tax payments.
