Estimated Tax Payment Not Showing Up on Payments to Date - QSE

I paid my 2024 Q1 Estimated Taxes to the IRS using their online payment method.  The payment shows on my QSE Transaction as Federal Tax.  However, it does not show in the "Payments to Date" section nor in the "Tax Payment Finder".  My State Estimated Tax Payment was found in the "Tax Payment Finder" and now show is the "Payments to Date".  I am only having problems with the Federal Tax.  There is no Category for "Estimated Tax".  Only "State Tax" and "Federal Tax".

Estimated Tax Payment Not Showing Up on Payments to Date - QSE

I've got a solution for your estimated taxes to show up, @dana-lyne.

Based on what you've described, your tax payment hasn't been categorized yet. I'd recommend categorizing the transaction as taxes and licenses so it will reflect as "Estimated taxes" in your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). Let's perform the steps together:

  1. Select Add transaction in the Transactions menu.
  2. In the description field, enter the (Date and fiscal year) quarterly federal tax payment.
  3. Enter the amount and the date you made the payment.
  4. Choose Select a category, select Taxes, and Estimated Taxes.
  5. Once done, click on Save.

You can refer to this article to learn more about Schedule C Categories: Schedule C and expense categories in QuickBooks Solopreneur and Self-Employed.

Additionally, you'll want to get your quarterly and annual tax info to keep you updated on how much taxes to pay each quarter. You can check this article for more information: Get quarterly and annual tax info from QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'll be around if you have further questions about your estimated taxes or any other concerns within the program. Take care, @dana-lyne.
