Filing 941 for previous year.

I recieved a letter from the IRS telling me that I didn't file my 941 report for the first quarter of 2021. I went into the filing history and found the form that I filed in 2021. I open the form and it had Do Not File-IRS will not accept. I am not sure what that means. I always file my reports timely. Was it accepted by the IRS or rejected? What do I do now? How do I create an acceptable form for the IRS? If I need to refile the form how do I recreate it in Qbooks? If I can't refile through Qbooks where do I get a blank form for 3/21?

Filing 941 for previous year.

I'm here to help you find the path through filing your 941 form for the first quarter of 2021 in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Tim.

Please know that the Do Not File - IRS will not accept notification on your 941 form signifies that the form used is from a previous quarter and is now outdated. During filing, Intuit has already updated the system to reflect quarter 2 requirements, rendering your filed form unacceptable for current submissions and equivalent to being rejected.

To address this, you'll need to obtain the form 941 for quarter 1 directly from the IRS website. Then, manually complete and file it from there.

Additionally, you can refer to this article if you need to amend a tax return in QBDT for accuracy: File a corrected Federal Form 941 and 940 in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

We're always here to guide you every step of the way if you need an extra hand in filing your payroll forms in QBDT. Help is only a few clicks away. Keep safe.

It is not showing me an option to file from there.
