How do I print a list of all my tax exempt sales for each year, 2020-2022?

I need to print a report that includes a column for the amount of sales tax paid on each invoice. I need to know which invoices were paid by a tax exempt customer. I need a report for each year from 2020 through 2022.

How do I print a list of all my tax exempt sales for each year, 2020-2022?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, team.

Please know that directly running and printing a report that includes a column for the amount of sales tax paid on each invoice and which entries were paid by a tax-exempt customer is currently unavailable. However, let me provide an alternative way to achieve your goal by performing the steps below.

To start with, you'll need to run various reports in QuickBooks and export them to compare the results. I recommend running and customizing the Customer Contact List first to add a Taxable column. This allows you to identify which customers are tax-exempt as Yes will not appear in the corresponding column.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Reports menu on the left panel.
  2. Choose Customer Contact List in the search field.
  3. Select the Customize button.
  4. Go to the Change columns link and checkmark the Customer and Taxable.
  5. Click Run report.

Once done, visit the Chart of Accounts section and choose the tax agency's Liability account. This is done to generate a statement and see the total amount of sales tax paid on each invoice. You can follow the steps below.

  1. Click the Gear icon at the upper right corner.
  2. Select Chart of accounts.
  3. Find the Liability account and click the drop-down arrow under the Action column.

After that, you'll be routed to the Account QuickReport page and click the small gear icon. Then, checkmark the Debit, Credit, and Transaction Type boxes. Please note that after paying the sales tax, the amount of payment on the debit side increases, indicating that the tax has already been paid.

Once completed, you can now print and export those mentioned reports to Microsoft Excel from QBO. This way, you're able to compare per data to accomplish your needs.

In case you need steps on how to memorize a report that allows you to save it with its recent personalized information, you can read this article: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.
