How do I setup the Dallas Texas Sales tax rate as 8.25% on QBO. QBO auto-set up just shows 6.25%

Hi, @cariend.

Thank you for posting your concern in the QuickBooks Community. Allow me to share some insights about this.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) updates the sales tax rate based on how it's setup in compliance with the set rate of your tax agency. In your case, you're required to collect 6.25% on your items, which will go to Texas State and an additional 2% to both Dallas City and MTA District.

First, I suggest reviewing the tax agencies you've added and the tax calculation QBO performs on your invoice and sales transactions. You can check this by creating a sample invoice or sales receipt, adding a product item, and selecting the See the math option.

Next, if you still need to make adjustments you can temporarily override the rate or amount for this and indicate the reason. Here's how:

  1. In your invoice or sales receipt, select See the math
  2. Scroll down and select Override this amount
  3. Before entering the adjustment, read the provided options and steps. Then, enter the desired rate or amount.
  4. Choose a reason for making the change, then select Confirm
  5. Select Save
