Issues with sales tax not migrating correctly from website's platform to QBO

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Pkrutilek. Let’s join forces to figure out why this change occurred and ensure your sales tax settings are configured correctly for your needs.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), when the automated sales tax feature is enabled, it calculates sales tax based on several factors, including the customer's tax-exempt status, the location of the sale, the shipping address, and the specific tax categories assigned to your products or services.

If you choose not to use the automatic setting, please be aware that you can only turn off the automated sales tax if there are no existing transactions with sales tax. If such transactions exist, you'll need to remove them before proceeding.

Turning off this feature won’t affect your Products and Services. They will still listed as taxable, but sales tax won’t automatically calculated in transactions.

Once you've deleted any transactions with sales tax, here's how to turn off the automated sales tax feature:

  1. Navigate to Taxes and choose Sales Tax.
  2. Select Sales Tax Settings then, hit the Turn off sales tax option.
  3. Click on Yes to confirm.

After turning it off, you can manually select the appropriate tax rate for each transaction. It allows for more accurate tax calculations tailored to your specific needs rather than relying on automated sales tax.

Furthermore, I’d like to share some essential resources to help you effectively manage sales tax in QBO. These articles provide insights into sales tax calculations and modifying and adjusting your sales tax payments for organized tax management.
