Quickbooks suspended our money transfer license with no warning. We found out when we tried to send the first June pay period payroll data. So, we had to issue paper paychecks to employees and could not schedule on-time money transfers for state and federal taxes. Despite assurances from Intuit representatives that we would get it up and running, we found out that the MTL had not been restored. So, we spent hours on the phone talking with representatives, trying to fix information about the primary principal and master admin. We were told, two years ago, that this had been corrected. When the MTL was finally reinstated, we sent the payroll data to schedule withholding payments. Today, we got a letter from the IRS telling us that we had to pay a four-figure penalty. Intuit dropped the ball, prevented us from paying in a timely fashion and misled us, telling us that we wouldn't have to pay a penalty. All because they pulled our MTL without warning and mishandled the fix, jeopardizing our ability to pay our employees. I would like to know if we can appeal this penalty. If we cannot, I would like to know what Intuit will do to make us whole.
I'm here to route you to the team that will help address your federal withholding penalty, @innominate.

I filed this in early August. We got a confirmation with a case number that the submission was received. Then, on September 18 I got an email from Intuit with a completely different case number. It told us that there was an Agency Discrepancy Letter from the IRS asking for penalty payment. It stated that because our MTL was suspended in June, then reinstated, Intuit would not be able to help us. They told us to take this up with the IRS ourselves. Furthermore, we were urged to pay the penalty online because the IRS purportedly doesn't accept paper checks as payment. But we already paid with a paper check and the check cleared. So, what is going on? The sender is from a do-not-reply Intuit email address and appears to be unrelated to our case. I have no way to ask questions. And they are giving incorrect advice. Intuit created this problem. We have gotten no help.
I truly understand your sentiments, Innominate. To give you a clearer picture, I'll delve into the various payment methods the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) offers for settling fines. Additionally, I’ll also guide you on how to deal with the specific case numbers assigned to you, ensuring you have all the information you need to address this matter effectively.
The IRS accepts payments via your bank account, debit or credit card, or even with digital wallet. Other ways are via same-day wire, check or money order, cash, and electronic funds withdrawal during e-filing. For more information, refer to this resource: https://www.irs.gov/payments.

Regarding the fine, it would be best to check with the IRS on the payment and status of the late charges.

Does this dedication extend as far as making a single post more in this thread within the next few months?
Because I'm willing to lay down money that an entirely different staff member will make the next post.
