Quickbooks online incorrectly determines location for sales tax on Refund Receipt.

I have different 'ship from' and 'ship to' address on my transactions.

For Invoice and Credit memo Quickbooks uses 'ship to' address to calculate sales tax

For Refund Receipt it uses 'ship from' address.

I tried all types of transactions for the same customer.

Because of this bug, I cannot get a correct sales tax report for both states.

Has anyone faced this problem?

I checked all the settings. Moreover, when I open 'See Math' on Refund Receipt, I see that it is putting the correct location on the first block, saying 'Based on this address you need to collect sales tax for these agencies' and then shows the correct agency, but then below on the 'Product and services block' it calculates based on shipped from location.

I didn't have this problem earlier. Any advice?

Thank you!

Quickbooks online incorrectly determines location for sales tax on Refund Receipt.

I recognize how the error with an incorrect sales tax on Refund Receipts has affected your business tasks, Elenna_biz. Let me discuss some information on how to handle this.

An ongoing investigation (INV-106977) is being raised regarding Refund Receipts incorrectly calculating sales tax (based on company address instead of customer address). However, our Product Engineers are looking into the issue and working on a quick fix.

In connection with this, I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team to have you added to the list of affected users. Once resolved, you will then receive an update through email.

To contact our Customer Support Team, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Click Help (?).
  3. Choose either tab to get started:

    • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
      • Start a chat with a support expert.
      • Get a callback from the next available expert.

The support hours for Plus, Essentials, and Simple Start are Mondays to Fridays, 6 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays 6 AM to 3 PM, while for Advanced, support is available 24/7. Please check out the outlined article for the direct phone number for QuickBooks Online support.

In the meantime, we can manually override the Ship From field on the Refund Receipt to match your customer's address instead of your Company's. Eventually, this allows us to calculate the sales tax correctly.

Moreover, you may refer to this article for additional information on sales tax management processes in QuickBooks: File your sales tax return and record sales tax payments in QuickBooks Online.

Thank you for your prompt response. I will use your advice on overwriting the Ship from field for a temporary solution. I already received an email from tech support saying they are working on this issue.
