Urgent: Need help accessing past tax forms

Hello,

I need to access some tax forms from many months ago that were not filed through Quickbooks Online. They were also not archived. And now I can't find those forms anywhere in Quickbooks.

Some back story: in December 2024 I needed to access the IL-941 form for Q4 of 2023 and Q1 of 2024. I called Quickbooks customer service, and the employee was able to help me access these forms by first marking those taxes as paid, and then I think she did something else which then made the forms show up in the archive, which is exactly what I wanted.

So, now I am in a similar situation except that I need to access old WT-6 forms, which is the Wisconsin equivalent of the IL-941. I need the WT-6 form for Quarters 2, 3 and 4 of 2024. I did not file them through Quickbooks Online, nor did I archive them, and now they are nowhere to be found in Quickbooks Online. I called Quickbooks customer service a few days ago, thinking that this would be easily resolved like last time, but I spent an hour on the phone with them, and there was no resolution. The Quickbooks employee was only able to mark those taxes as paid, but she did not know how to make these past forms show up in the archive.

Does anyone know how I can retrieve form WT-6 for Q2, Q3 and Q4 of 2024 in Quickbooks Online? There must be a procedure for this, since the initial Quickbooks employee I spoke with in December was able to retrieve past IL-941 forms for me and make them show up in the archive.

Thank you so much.

Urgent: Need help accessing past tax forms

Accessing your WT-6 tax forms for last year's quarters isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO), spottedcow. Let me add insights about this.

When submitting tax filings outside QuickBooks, manually filed payroll forms like WT-6 aren't supported in the program. You'll need to reach out to your state and obtain the quarterly form.

Then, run a Payroll Detail report in QBO to manually input the amounts from the previous quarters. This way, you can acquire the data needed for the next filing.

Whenever you're ready, here's how to run the Payroll Detail report:

  1. In your QBO account, go to Reports from the left menu panel.
  2. Enter Payroll Detail from the search section.
  3. Modify the dates (Quarterly 2024) in the report.
  4. Verify all information. Then, manually enter the amounts into the WT-6 form.

Furthermore, here's how you can wrap up this year’s payroll and prepare for the next filings: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

On the other hand, you'll want to explore QuickBooks Payroll to take data processing to the next level. It helps you organize your forms and provide assistance in managing your overall account.
