Sales Tax Paid but doesnt post anywhere

Hi All

I am using Quickbooks Desktop:

I paid my quarterly sales tax in New York on March 13 both with the state and through QB.  I followed the normal procedure of going to vendor, sales tax, pay sales tax.  Put in the check number, made sure the date ranges were appropriate, selected all that applied and hit ok.  The screen went away but now i cant seem to find the payment anywhere.  Usually it shows the payment and when you open it up you can see the individual counties tax that was paid with the payment.  Is it possible it paid it but didnt post a payment anywhere and if so is there a way to make the payment again not using the pay sale tax screen.  The reason i ask is i went back intl the pay sales tax screen, put in the appropriate dates and there is no sales tax shown so it had to post it just not sure where. I tried to find, search for the payment amount and it doesnt come up anywhere.  Any thoughts??  My accountant said went till i reconcile and if it shows all good but what if it doesnt??

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, JessiG.

If you want to check your sales tax transactions, you can view and edit them in the agency's sales tax payable account register.

You can learn more about paying sales taxes in our Pay sales tax article.

If you need a second opinion from an accounting professional, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.

Here's how it works:

  1. Go to our Find a ProAdvisor page.
  2. Use the City or ZIP search field to specify a location.
  3. Select Find a ProAdvisor.
  4. Browse through your results and find one that works best for the business. You can click on each ProAdvisor's profile to learn more information about them.

Once you've found an accountant, they can be contacted through their Send a message form:

  1. Use the available text box to introduce yourself. Be sure to include details about which services you're looking for.
  2. Enter your appropriate info in the Your nameYour email, and Your phone number (optional) fields.
  3. Select Send message.

In the event you're unable to verify if the payment went through or not, and you're unsure, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team to confirm if it processed successfully or not.

I've also included a detailed resource about reconciling which may come in handy moving forward: Reconcile an account

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a lovely Wednesday!
