Sales Tax report doesn't match with filing - QB Desktop

I already filed Sales Tax to the Gov. But now I came back to file it in QB I realize that the amount dose not match with what I reported to the Gov. agency.

What is the appropriate action to take in this case?

Sales Tax report doesn't match with filing - QB Desktop

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, Charls. I can show you how to adjust your paid sales tax in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

QBDT calculates your sales tax depending on how you've set them up. To ensure you'll have a correct calculation, you can consider checking your tax item and rate if they're set up correctly.

If correctly set up, you can create a sales tax adjustment to match the amount you've submitted to your government.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Vendors menu and click Sales Tax. Then, Adjust sales tax Due.
  2. In the Sales Tax Adjustment window, enter the adjustment date.
  3. Enter the sales tax vendor.
  4. Choose the adjustment account and other relevant information.
  5. In the Adjustment sections, you can choose if you need to increase or reduce sales tax, then enter the adjustment amount.
  6. You can also enter any additional note in the Memo field.
  7. Select OK.

You can refer to this article for detailed steps on how to process a sales tax adjustment: Process sales tax adjustment.

Furthermore, you can refer to this article to learn how to exempt your company from sales tax and get refunded: Request sales tax exemption and refund.

Get back to this post if you still have concerns about your sales tax. I'm always here to help you out.
