social security deduction .. twice for self-employed

I am an S-Corp and LLC, owner and employee.

When i expand the details of the payment to IRS it lists

Social Security $xx.xx

Social Security Employer $xx.xx

where $xx.xx is exactly the same amount.

I was expecting to see just $xx.xx once to match the amount on the pay stubs.

Is that how Social Security works?  The employer pitches in an equal amount?

Yes, the employer is on the hook for an equal amount, which is an expense to the company.
