Superseded Returns

I would like clarification on superseding returns.

1. Can you look at a copy of your return and tell whether your preparer filed it as a superseded return?

2. If your preparer files a superseded return, can the IRS compare it to the originally filed return and use the information to potentially assess whether they are going to audit, etc?

3. If you file a superseded return, does the IRS just delete the originally filed return?

Thank You!

Superseded Returns

I can provide clarification on suspended returns, FloridaAccounting9182.

We can't determine if your preparer filed your return as a superseded return by looking at the copy. Contacting the preparer or checking with the IRS can confirm the return's status.

Furthermore, when a preparer files a superseded return, the IRS can compare it to the original one, potentially influencing audit decisions or other actions.

In addition, when you file a superseded return, the IRS replaces the original one but keeps records of both returns.

If you have any other questions about suspended returns, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm just a few clicks away to help you again. Have a great day!
