Unable to shut off automatic tax payments.

I have spent hours on the phone with QB trying to deactivate automatic tax payments. At this point I am told QB will not allow the me to shut this off. This is totally unacceptable in my view. How can it be ethical or legal for a any computer program to access a person's bank account and tax accounts without informed consent? A person must be allowed to withdraw consent at any time without loosing access to their business accounting software. How can I manually pay my taxes while still using QB online payroll?

Unable to shut off automatic tax payments.

Hello LSM207,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! This is not the experience we want you to have. You can make changes by following the steps below to pay your taxes annually.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. From the Taxes and forms section, select Edit ✎.
  3. If you want to pay and file electronically in QuickBooks, select I’ll initiate payments and filings using QuickBooks.
  4. Select Save, then Done.

From there, you can follow the next steps to check the automated taxes widget for tasks you need to complete.

Please note, though, once Auto-Pay/File is enabled, on the 1st of the following month, it will start automatically processing any tax payments moving forward. Suppose you have any tax liabilities from a period before when Auto-Pay/File is ENABLED. In that case, you will still be responsible for manually processing those before the Tax Filing System takes over the future payments.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. We are here to help. See you around.

Thank you for responding to my concern. I cannot find that option anywhere.

Unable to shut off automatic tax payments.

Hey, @LSM207.

Thanks for getting back to us so quickly.

Since you're not able to find that option, can you provide us with the features you do have when going to the Payroll Settings, Taxes section, and then the Edit option? Taking a screenshot of the features will give us all the details as well.

If this isn't the option you're getting stuck on, please provide us with a screenshot of where you're at and what you have listed.

This will help us determine the best solution for your business. I'll be waiting for your response!

Unable to shut off automatic tax payments.

I was informed by a representative and a supervisor yesterday that I am locked into a QB test or beta program that prevents a customer from unenrolling in automatic tax payments. They said there is no way of exiting this test either. Lastly, there is no timeframe for the completion of the test.

Here is what I see when I go into payroll settings:

Unable to shut off automatic tax payments.

I also experienced this today. QB will not allow me to file 940,941 or W2s. This will really mess me up as I have to manually combine 2 states for the IRS. THEY WILL KICK THE FILING BACK ON ME. I USUALLY ALWAYS HAVE W2s sent out by Mid January and now I can’t. I DID NOT APPROVE THIS!!! I have been with QB for 25 plus years and looking elsewhere. This creates a HUGE HEADACHE FOR ME TO FILE AMENDMENTS. ALSO, don’t appreciate being charged $6.00 per employee when I DID NOT APPROVE THIS AT ALL. QB JUST DECIDED TO CHANGE IT AND NOT NOTIFY ME. EXTREMELY UNHAPPY LONG TIME CUSTOMER.
