Why didn't the sales tax process? We have over 70 sales receipts that auto process the 1st of each month, in March I discovered 5 where the sales tax was not charged.

You can review the sales receipts that didn't include sales tax, lplatt. This will help us identify the problem and correct those five sales receipts effectively.

 

QuickBooks automatically calculates the total tax rate for each sale based on the following:

 

  • Your customer's tax-exempt status
  • Where you sell and where you ship
  • What you sell

 

To start, ensure that the products and services on those receipts are assigned the correct sales tax categories. Then, confirm that the Ship from and Ship to addresses are accurate, as these can affect tax calculations.

You can also select the See the math option for those sales receipts. This will open the How your sales tax is calculated page, where QuickBooks provides a detailed breakdown of the sales tax. Learn how QuickBooks Online calculates sales tax.
