I seem to have done everything right on my quickbooks but when I go to download transactions and it asks me which account I want to download to, my bank account isn't there and the only choice I have is the AddNew. This of course results in it downloading to a new named bank account and then I have to transfer all transactions to my proper bank account. Why?

Based on what you've described, I gather the bank isn't connected to your QuickBooks account, is this correct? If so, I suggest adding the bank again using the steps provided in this helpful article here. Knowing the reason why the bank isn't showing would require contacting our support team outside of the Community for further investigation.
In case you may be experiencing browser-related issues with the bank still connected, I recommend clearing cache and cookies on your browser as that may be causing display/functionality issues. Thank you for your reply but it is still an issue. I have correctly connected to the bank and varified that with the bank in question. To be sure I am using Quickbooks Destop Pro 2021. I have soent several minutes today chatting with Quickbooks Customer Service and they checked and advised me that there was nothing they could do. When I asked to be escalated I was told someone would call me back. The same person did call me back with the following intructions.
Go to: File; Utilities; Import; Web Connect files. Look for the file with .qbo and import it. Following this I get the same screen that asks me what account I want to import the transactions to. Back to square one. The only choice is to "Add New" If I try to add my baank account as listed in my chart of accounts it tells me that that account is already exists and to try something new.

Yes its up-to-date. I have contacted your customer service several times and they just put me in a loop and continuously try to sell me Quickbooks online, which I do not need.
