Hello cindypan,
I'll pick up the conversation here and help you however I can. I see one of the moderators mentioned calling in, which you stated isn't possible. The scope of support available here in community is limited when it comes to in-depth troubleshooting, but I think I can help with this one.
Once you've set a home currency on a company file, you're unable to change it. Creating a new company file with the proper currency is the way to resolve this issue so you can properly record your books in the currency you need. Here's how to create a new company file.
If you're having trouble choosing CAD as the currency in the new company file, that's something that may need to be looked at by our phone support team so we can determine where this error is coming from.
So you're not having to start completely from scratch, there are certain things such as lists that can be exported from your old company file to the new company file. Read the Import/export overview to learn more about the options. The only caution I have for you is to not export and import items and accounts that have Yuan assigned to them, as those may retain the currency assigned.
I'll be here if you need further clarification. Just let me know what you need. :)
Hi there, cindypan.
Let's start by updating the software to the latest release. This will help fix some bugs and issues you have encountered in QuickBooks.
Here are the steps:
Then, try setting up the Multicurrency feature.
If the issue persists, then I recommend running the QuickBooks Refresher (QBRefresher) Tool.
You can follow the detailed steps in this article: Solutions for when QuickBooks stops working.
Please let me know how it goes. I'll be here to keep helping. Wishing you a good one.
Hi,
This problem is still happening. I cannot set up multi-currencies, and even I find the billing and invoicing currency are showing as ¥ Chinese yuan!! what happened to the software!!
Let me help, @cindypan.
You may have accidentally selected the Chinese currency when setting up the home currency. Instead of clicking View More Currencies, you can type in the currency instead.
Generally, the steps provided by my colleague @JaneD should help fix bugs when using QuickBooks Desktop. If you still experience issues, it'd be best to reach out to our Desktop Support to isolate this further. They have extra tools and other troubleshooting tips that'll help you out.
Keep me posted how it goes. I want to ensure you get all the help you need with your multiple currencies.
Hi ,
Thanks, but it still not work. Please see the screenshot. And, if only use one currency like CAD, how can I set it up, I didn't do anything before this.

I appreciate you for trying the steps that JaneD and LilyC provided in the earlier responses, Cindy.
Based on the screenshot, you typed CAD and got the warning message. Instead, let's enter Canadian Dollar. Then, click OK.
If you encounter the same warning message, let's check your company file for any data-integrity issues. We can do the Verify and Rebuild Data process to fix it.
After that, you can enter Canadian Dollar again. Remember that you can no longer change the home currency after this.
Keep us updated so we can get your Multi Currencies working.
Hi,Still not working...Please help me to do this: "check your company file for any data-integrity issues. We can do the Verify and Rebuild process to fix it."
Thanks for getting back, Cindy.
Let's do the Verify and Rebuild Data process to identify the issue and fix it. Here are the detailed steps:
You can repeat the Verify and Rebuild Data process until all minor issues are fixed.
If the same thing happens, you can create a new company file and set up again the multi currencies. Then, you can export the lists from old company file and import it to the new one.
Please let me know if you have additional questions about this.
Hi,
I did the Rebuild Data process, please see the result. But nothing getting better, still stuck at nothing come out at the currencies drop-down menu. and also cannot input directly.

Hi,
Thanks for your help, finally "Creating a new company file " this works!!
Cindy
How did you solve it?
I have the exactly same problem.
I made a new company through "Express Start" and selected "General Service-Based business" and also tried with "General Product-based Business".
However, when I go to the multi-currency setting, there was no list of currencies to choose in the drop box.
I contacted the Intuit Technical service but they couldn't figure it out.
I am attaching the picture of the screen where I stuck.
I updated the program as Intuit Technical service suggested.
I was using Quickbooks Pro 2017.
I just purchased a new Quickbooks Pro 2020 but I still have the same problem.
Hi there. I want to make sure you get the assistance you need with this. I recommend contacting our support team using this link: tech support team.

Hi, I solved it by changing the language and the region in the Window 10 program.
In my case, this problem happened because of the language conflict.
You need to change the region to Canada and also set the main language to English in the Window program.
I originally changed the language and the region from the normal Window setting but it didn't help.
You must go to the ADMINISTRATIVE change in the Window 10.
I logged in as administrator in windows 10, changed region to Canada, the Time Zone to US/Canada, language to English (Canada) but still get same result in both "create new company" or existing company.
I got "<View more Currencies>" when i clicked the drop down list
Yes. it works. Thank you very much!
But I want my previous record all into the latest data file, I spent a lot of time for done everything, is it have other way ?
