Accessing free tax filing after upgrading

Hello,

I've used QB self employed tax bundle for many years, up until Jan 2nd of this year when I switched to QB Online. I need to know how I can still use my free Turbotax filing for 2023 since I have paid for the tax bundle through all of 2023.

Accessing free tax filing after upgrading

Hello there, jbeezer. We need to check your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account details to confirm if you can still use your free TurboTax filing for 2023 after upgrading to QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll provide details about this and then encourage you to contact the next available support to look into this matter.

If your QBSE Tax Bundle subscription is still active, you'll still have the option to use your free TurboTax filing. But, if your account shows canceled after you upgrade, you can no longer utilize the said feature to file your taxes. To verify your account status, here's how:

  1. Go to Help (?) and select Contact UsNote: If you’re using the QuickBooks Self-Employed app, tap the + button and select Ask QB Assistant.
  2. Enter “talk to a human”, then select Continue.
  3. Select which way you want to connect with us. Have us call you - Get a call from a support expert or Chat with us - Start a conversation with a support expert.

Additionally, since you're new to QBO, you may want to check out this article to help you get started and adjust settings after you sign up: Your QuickBooks Online company.

If there's anything else you need to know about your QBSE subscription and filing taxes, please don't hesitate to leave a reply below. I'd be here ready to assist you.

Accessing free tax filing after upgrading

Hi and thanks for your response. I just wanted to let everyone know how this went

Yesterday I was brushed off by QB Community and sent to chat support, then i was brushed off by chat and directed to call the 1888 #, then i was brushed off by them and told to call Turbotax.

Yesterday, you sent me to chat support and I was brushed off by them and directed to call the 1888 number. The 1888 number also brushed me off and directed me to call Turbotax. I was on the phone with them for what seemed like an eternity because they don't know anything about QB. But they were kind enough to try and help me as best they could.

They said I needed to contact QB and get confirmation that I had paid for the QB Self employed tax Bundle, and that the bundle included a free e file with Turbotax. The said they will then be able to accommodate me for the charges that will show when I check out from my 2023 e file. They assigned me a case number.

They also said QB can refund me for the filing, or QB might be able to give me a promo code. They said you can look up my case number and see the info

So after being on chat support again for an hour going back and forth, this is the response I was given

"As per checking here, Angela, your account is still active, but it's already upgraded to QuickBooks Online. For this, even if we will ask our backend team to provide us a code for the tax filing, there's no guarantee that it will work. It might work if the account was still under the QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription. But again, as your account is already upgraded we wouldn't be able to process any code or even a refund.

So basically, the amount that you have been paying for before here on Quickbooks Self-Employed is no longer valid."

And that's the end of the story. Turbotax was willing to help me out if QB would confirm the info. What a shame. I hope this helps someone who may be in this situation.
