I am currently running Windows 10 Pro 1803 64-bit with QuickBook Pro 2017 Contractor edition. This is the desktop that is hosting a company file for 2 other networked computers. I am unable to start the QuickBooksDB27 service manually or automatically. If I try, it gives the Error 193: 0xc1, Unable to start the service error. I have tried giving the created QB local user admin privileges, changing the service to start as local service under admin account, and a complete clean install of QB Pro 2017. I have also tried file doctor with different company files and company file backups.
When I click on Host Multi-User Access, QB goes to a blank box like nothing is open, and after 15 seconds, the application crashes to desktop. Next time I open QB, it goes back into single-user mode just like I never clicked Host Multi-User Access. I can not switch to Multi-User mode.
Is there a fix for this? I have tried reinstalling QB 4 times with no success. I was only able to open the company file once I switched to single user mode and stopped hosting multi-user access. Now, I cannot enable it due to the seemingly corrupted service.
After a call with Support, we were able to resolve the issue.
QuickBooks seems to catch an issue with installing and reinstalling one copy of quickbooks. What the tech did was remote in, install a new copy of QuickBooks Pro 2017 alongside my completely fresh clean install of Contractor Edition. Then, before trying to load company file, went into Uninstall Programs, repaired the NEW copy (generic edition) of QuickBooks, started the QuickBooksDB27 service and set it to "Automatic." Opened new copy of quickbooks tech installed, hosted multi-user access, switched to multi-user mode, quit, uninstalled Contractor edition I installed, then converted the generic business version over to contractor edition. So far, it seems to be working with a reboot and other users connected.
"and a complete clean install of QB Pro 2017"
You don't need to install the program, itself. For the Host, you need to install the Database Manager service app and it runs at startup.
