Anyone else have their online Quickbooks change from Accountant View to Business View entirely on its own

Hi there, @nanrapp. Let me share with you some insights about the Accountant and Business Views in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The system won't automatically change its view unless an option is selected from the Gear icon.

When you experience the switch of view automatically, I recommend opening QuickBooks using a private browser to isolate the issue. This way, we can check browser-related issues that may affect this behavior.

You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts to save you time:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

If it works fine, go back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. You can also use another supported and up-to-date browser to narrow down the result.

In case you're getting the same result, I'd suggest reaching out to our Support Team for further assistance. A live representative can pull up your account securely and investigate why the QuickBooks view changes from Accountant to Business automatically.

Once settled, you're now ready to track your QBO entries depending on how you want QuickBooks to display them.

If you have any other questions about the business and accountant view, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!

There is something wrong.    I have to be in business view to create an account  (chart of accounts

).  QuickBooks on line.  So that I can make an invoice input a invoice, and be able to billable expense.    Why can I not do this in accountant view?

Let me help and provide clarification on the unexpected behavior you're experiencing in the program, Danc2.

Some users have reported that they are unable to switch from Business view to Accountant view. Customers are unable to select the Use for billable expenses feature, edit the chart of accounts or create an invoice due to this issue.

Our engineers are all hands on deck getting the mentioned feature working back to normal. To ensure you're in the loop about the progress of the investigation, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online (QBO) Care Team. Then, sign up to the notification list of affected users.

In the event that you are unable to edit an account, let's run the Account List report and click on the impacted account to launch the default user interface. To read more about the distinctions between the Business and Accountant views, go here. It also explains how to switch back to each view.

You may save the Community link on your browser for future reference. From there, you'll have access to our online tools and resources, which will enable you to complete your accounting activities on time

We appreciate your patience while we work through this. Reach out to me again if you have other QuickBooks concerns or additional questions about completing a specific task in the program. I'm always ready to assist you further. Have a good one.
