Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, BioSked. I'll be sharing details on how the Trial account works in QuickBooks. Then, ensure you can remove a company in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks Online has a 30-day trial period. However, you can remove the fictitious test company by canceling the trial version. Please note that after 30 days, your QuickBooks free trial automatically ends, then your access becomes read-only.

Here's how to cancel:

  1. Sign in to the QuickBooks Online trial version as an admin user.
  2. Click the Gear icon⚙ and select Account and settings.
  3. Go to the Billing & Subscription tab.
  4. In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel trial.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps.

Then, to totally delete the fictitious company from the list of the selected company, I recommend changing the email that you've used when logging in to the trial one into a dummy account. This way, you're now unable to see the said company on the list. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Choose the User Profile.
  2. Click the Manage your Intuit account link.
  3. Go to the Sign-in & security tab.
  4. Click on the User ID field. Then enter your new email address.
  5. Enter your password and select Save.

For further details on how to change your user ID or login credentials in QBO, you can open this article: Update your user ID, phone number, and contact information for Intuit.

Lastly, I'm also adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBO: Help guide for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics about advanced accounting, banking, and payments to name a few.

Please let me know if you have follow-up questions with your QBO company. I’ll be here for your anytime.

Hi ChristieAnn, Thanks for your reply, however it did not work. When I followed the instructions to change my UserID for the trial company, it became the UserID for all of the companies, including the ones for which I didn't want to change. What did I do wrong? Regards, BioSked

Hey there, @BioSked

I appreciate you coming back and letting us know how those steps went for you.

Even though my colleague had a very great idea on how to remove the account from the landing page, the best route would've been to keep the same User ID and wait until the account was deleted on its' own.

The reason being is because trial accounts that are canceled will automatically remove themselves from the landing page after 90 days

However, there should be no worries. All you need to do is keep the User ID, or edit it, and then wait the 90 days. From there on, the account will be removed.

If you have any other questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask. We're always here to lend a helping hand. Have a fantastic day!

Thanks for your follow-up, but I'm still confused. I canceled (or tried to) the trial account well over 90 days ago, yet it still appears.

Hello there, BioSked.

Thank you for getting back to us here in the Community. Allow me to chime in and share some information about what happens to your data after you cancel the QuickBooks Trial account.

Once you cancel the account, your company data will be completely eliminated a year after you cancel it.

Please see this article for more information: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription or trial.

If you wish to continue using the company file, make you resubscribe within a year (for previously subscribed) or 90 days (for canceled trial).

Feel welcome to get back on this thread if you'll need assistance in dealing with intuit account. We're always here to help you.

Thank you, but again, my question isn't how to cancel a company. It's how to remove it from the list of companies on the landing page once it's canceled. It still appears

Hey there again, @BioSked

Thanks for reaching back out to us on this thread.

The company should remove itself from the landing page after canceling and the 90 days are up.

If you've canceled and it's been 90 days afterwards, then I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team for further assistance. They'll be able to take a closer look into your account to see why this is happening. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help (?) icon in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Click the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter your question and hit Let's talk
  4. Scroll down and choose to Get a callback

Keep us updated on how the phone call goes. It's my priority that you get problem handled. I'll be back around shortly!
