Join nowHow do you change the intuit account associated with a QB desktop database and possible transfer the license? We hired an outside accountant to do our accounting who has her own licenses and accounts but we want to retain our license and intuit account for a different entity.
Hi there, nancyz.
I'd like to help and share what I know about managing your Intuit account and your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
Instead of changing the Intuit account and license of your QuickBooks. You can create an accountant's copy of your company file that you can send to your accountant. This way, they can work on to your company file without making any major changes with your QuickBooks.
To create an accountant's copy:
Once you have the file, you may now put it on on a USB and give it your accountant, attach it to an email, or share it through a cloud service like Box.
I've added this article where you can check and learn how to send the file through the File Service under "Send a file through the Accountant's Copy File Service": Create an Accountant's Copy of your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.
Also, you can just create a new company file for your new entity in your QuickBooks wherein the license and Intuit account is associated.
Please let me know if you still have other questions about it. I'll be here to answer them. Have an awesome week!
Which QB Desktop year version do you have? Ask your external accountant to use QBD Accountant version. Otherwise, deploy a private cloud at your premise and your external accountant will be able to access your file anytime by internet.
