Deleting Bank Account from My Firm

I put my personal account in my QBO Accountant "Your Firm"s banking information and I need to remove it. How do I do that? I tried to make it inactive. That put the amount into Open Balance and Current Assets through JL transfers. I don't want them there, I don't want that information anywhere. What can I do?

Thanks for your help.

PS, this was giving me an error because I wasn't choosing a file, so I just loaded this one so it would post.

Deleting Bank Account from My Firm

Hi there, @Sfields123

I'm here to help you delete a bank account from your firm:

  1. Go to Accounting on the left menu.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find your personal account you want to delete in the list.
  4. In the Action drop-down, click Delete.
  5. Confirm that you want to delete the account.

Just a heads up though, here are the things that you'll need to know when you delete a bank account from QBO:

  • The account will be made inactive in QBO.
  • If the account has a non-zero balance, QBO will make an adjusting transaction.
  • Although you can make a deleted account active again, you may need to make corrections to journal entries and balances.

Here's an article for more insights: Disconnect or delete an account.

Let me know if you need anything else. I'm always around here to answer them and help you out.
