Hello, @EQuilter.

When you convert your QuickBooks Desktop company file to QuickBooks Online, only the Profit and Loss budget types are converted. Also, this feature is available in QuickBooks Online Plus ad Advanced.

For your budget to show on the report, all you have to do is change the date range and do some customization. Here's how:

  1. Select Reports from the left menu.
  2. Open the Budget vs Actual report.
  3. Customize the Report period (for example by month).
  4. Click Customize.
  5. Go to the Filter section.
  6. Put a check mark on the Class box, then select the desired class for this report. class.PNG
  7. Click Run reportbudgetvsactuals.PNG

Click on Save Customization. This way, you won't have a hard time customizing the report each time you pull it up. Also, the Actual column in the Budget vs. Actuals report will update to reflect transactions when they're added for the category.  I'm including an article that provides further insight into budgeting, such as how to edit one: How to create, edit, and manage budgets.

Additionally, since you've referenced that you recently started with QBO, I wanted to take a quick moment to include a resource designed to help a user become acclimated with the software: QuickBooks Tutorials.
