But you took the time for your righteous rant. We have the right to ask for changes. If you are offended like so many today, simply go mind your own business.
Why do you even bother to reply; you say the same thing, like a robot. Useless!
Oh the Intuit cultist is back white knighting for his team. If you don't like this thread, I suggest you stop posting. If you are happy, move on Dave. Get a life and let us resolve this with Intuit. You are the sad one.
I barely have time for all the tests, changes, and updates, I have to take for this. I do not think I could learn something new right now, without losing clients. I keep hoping some decisions will be reviewed.
It is just disheartening, as I do not understand the thought process here.
Clearly, removing the desktop advanced certification on the find a pro-advisor website, that was exceedingly hard to pass, tells me they are making room for new blood
They say there was low interest, and that is because it was hard, and I thought that was the idea.
Good luck to you though.
BT, my man, I know things can be upsetting. I gave you the 5 second solution I use and shared how disappointed I am to see people outrage and demean others that have way less power to change intuits business model than you think. I'm not "white knighting or cultist" to give that perspective. The truest thing you've said is "We have the right to ask for changes". I agree. Anyway, I'm out, good luck with the rest of your years.
This is not only arrogant and invasive as hell, but it's pretty stupid to presume everyone even has 24/7 high speed internet access. There are plenty of places in the US that don't. Like, in Kentucky where I live. I bought desktop software precisely in order for it to be offline. If you can't or won't respect that need, then I will certainly be looking to take my business elsewhere.
That nonsense non-answer has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that people neither need nor want internet access on their desktop bookkeeping.
I don't think you can't.
Quickbooks will continue prompt you to login to Intuit account, and if you don't, it'll start a countdown, I think 30 or 60 days, where you need to login to Intuit account or else you can't access the company file.
We tried not logging in to Intuit account for quite a while few months ago, and we completely locked out (or at least can't open our company file on our accounting pc where we usually don't connect to internet) until we tried login with Intuit account.
I wish I was joking or lying.
I have had it too with all the invasions of privacy with all Quickbooks products. I absolutely NEVER recommend Quickbooks Online, and we are moving all of our accounting to a Thomson Reuters product. Quickbooks has become the creepy stalker.
This is the type of "features" that cause people to leave Intuit all together.
It has no value for the consumer whatsoever.
Closing out of the window seems to no longer be a "fix" for avoiding signing in. Features such as sending emails no longer work without being signed in. Time for new software.
You can right click the top of the prompt and choose the close option, and then just click cancel.
Dave, I challenge you to look at Intuit customer service reviews from BBB, TrustPilot, Yelp!, etc; all with samplings in the hundreds and all with 1/5 star ratings. I suspect it would be closer to zero if zero was a choice. Next look at the CEO statement about company values and their customers. What a joke. This company has no support, zilch. I am here to tell people to stop using Intuit, spread the word and hopefully it reaches critical mass and they start losing money. If you want to be a fan boi for Intuit, that is your choice. Pushing back on this incompetent company is our right. So move on and mind your own business.
That is complete bull. This has nothing to do with protecting "our" data. IF it were WE the customers would not be FORCED to login.
You reading this thread at all? You have to do that everytime. Not the point.
About once a month I get an email demanding I sign in to a particular client's account. Your email says I haven't signed in in "180 days" or something like that. I was in the account yesterday, and obediently signed in as I was supposed to. Whatever you're looking at, it isn't mine. The client gets a copy of the file every month. Is that the copy you're unhappy about?
I think the qb team and engineers are missing the point. This is not only insane and inefficient for most users, but they're not listening to their primary demographic. ALL of my clients have expressed frustration with this "feature". They have ALL decided to research alternative accounting solutions. We know there are not many alternatives to QB, BUT with problems like this someone will take the time to compete. This "feature" is unnecessary especially for small businesses or one-man operations and, in my opinion as well as others, actually decreases security by forcing those that remain offline to have an online account. This "feature" simply needs to be optional. If you made it optional those that want it or need it could use it and be happy that Intuit created it and for all the rest (90% of users) they could disable it. To force something so intrusive on a userbase is not only in poor taste, but will definitely cause defection. I too have been with QB for 30 years and I too am looking for an alternative. We have enough frustration in this world and do not need more.
Please advise how to disable this useless and intrusive "feature." I do not want my stand alone accounting software to be required to log on to the Intuit website. This is the sort of thing that might cause to me switch from Quickbooks. I have been a customer since the 90's.
I created an account just to tell these m*ther f*ckers that I moved away from quickbooks last year as a customer due to this forced login bullsh*t. I suggest you do the same.
TOTAL BULLSH*T
Because of this, it will only be a matter of time before Intuit looses their customer base to competitors. I'm currently looking into AccountEdge, Sage Business Accounting, and Freshbooks.
Even Worse, this keeps PROMPTING my AUTOMATED code, designed to run in Unattended mode.
Every 14 days, my code hangs with a dialog prompt on the screen!!! [Very difficult to debug, since, if I see it, I have to clear it to move on]
Please disable this when logging in via the API
Also, I agree that it feels "under handed" in the approach. it caused a MASSIVE amount of confusion among our users.
I do not Want Nor Need the extra security. All it seems is to have access to what I am doing for advertising and/or sales purposes.
I want access to MY DATA at all times!!! I do Not want to log into an intuit account when I access my data. I want to turn this security off and it is MY choice to do so.
I am asking HOW Do I do that??
Hi there, djsesroh.
This is not the impression we want you to have when opening your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.
The option to disable the pop-up login to the Intuit account is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop.
Logging into your Intuit account and verifying your identity helps to keep your data and account safe. This is to ensure that only you and you alone have access to your account.
I've included these that'll help you learn more about managing your account safely and easily: Manage Intuit Account.
Additionally, you can browse our Help articles page for reference. There, you can read articles that will guide you in completing your future tasks.
Keep your posts coming if you need more help managing your QuickBooks desktop account. Have a great day!
Just because other companies are doing it doesn't make it right. You going to jump off a cliff if someone else does it. Making the "cloud" opportunity is great for those that need/want/use it. Quickbooks started as a company that supported and wanted small business. That has changed. There are many that don't have consistent access to the internet. I know that is a problem for some to understand but it is reality for many. Your solution may work. Great! However every update is usually geared towards making less clicks or keystrokes to get any thing done. Not more. This seems to be all about more monitoring to be able to send more ads and to force us to update every year. I typically upgrade every 2 or 3 years. Now it appears they will force me to upgrade every year. It is a lousy business practice if you want commitment and loyalty.
I do NOT want or Need extra security or safety for my data. I will allow who I want access to it and I do not want to be online to use my DATA.
