GoPayment Bluetooth Reader Compaitibility

Yes - we just downloaded the app so we have the latest version.  It is a bluetooth reader.  I spoke with QB support and they said that they do not feel the app supports the tablet.  We are using a Verizon Asus Z10 tablet.   It is running the most recent Android 7.0.    The app does not show under setting the spot to choose the type of reader.  It does not allow you to manually enter a credit card either.    We got the reader and the app to work on an apple phone without any issues.

GoPayment Bluetooth Reader Compaitibility

Hello K (@kdennis)

I moved your post out from the original thread so we can get some input specifically on your tablet and OS. You are definitely running a viable android OS version. Unfortunately, looking at the GoPayment site, I don't see your Asus on the list of compatible devices. However, we might still be able to get it working.

One of the QuickBooks support team members posted these instructions for Bluetooth devices. Can you give this setup process a try?

  •  To turn on the device, press and hold the button on the side until the green light is visible.
  • Pair QB21 reader with GoPayment app (for both iOS GP app 9.0.0 and higher and Android 6.0.0 and higher):
    • Navigate to the Menu in upper-left and select Settings.
    • Choose Card Reader.
    • Select Type and switch to "Bluetooth reader". Go back.
    • Ensure Bluetooth is turned on in the phone and QB21 device is on.
    • Select Add a new reader. This should allow the phone to detect the reader.
    • Select the Chip and Swipe reader.
    • The reader is now visible under "My Card Readers" section.
    • Return to New Payment to take a payment.
  • Process a payment using the QB21 reader:
    • Chip: insert card into front slot with the Chip facing downward, magnetic stripe facing the Payor.
    • Swipe: slide card across the slot on the back of the reader, with magnetic stripe facing the Payor.

*Front of reader = USB slot positioned on the bottom-left hand corner.

Please let me know how the results. Just thinking ahead, can you use your Iphone as the POS? Or do you need to use the tablet?

GoPayment Bluetooth Reader Compaitibility

We have a Samsung 8S+.  We just set up the contactless, chip, magistrip card reader.  It connects once in a blue moon.  What is the tips to get this to work?  Tired of spending $50 for junk (aka expensive, paper weight) from GoPayment card readers.  The last 2-3 haven't worked consistently either.

Hello BUSINESS16,

I'd like to help you to iron out the problems and get everything up and running. There are some great options to try out here.

Hopefully, that's able to get you back on track, but there's always a chance it's a problem with the card reader. Our Merchant Services team can help you out with getting a replacement one sent out.

I hope you keep me in the loop on how that works for you.

Is the headphone jack reader still available?  We just received the bluetooth one but don't have great hopes for it to stay connected at our POS given what we're reading.  Figure the headphone one will be more reliable at least.

Hey @ReBL7

I have seen the headphone versions around campus here in Mountain View, so it is likely you can get your hands on one. Have you reached out to merchant services? They may be able to send you a replacement.

I completely understand what you mean. I haven't upgraded my phone because I want to keep using headphone jacks. Do you use Bluetooth for anything else in your store? I like to limit the amount of devices attached to BlueTooth at one time.
