How can I access records from my old QB Desktop account from 2019 to 2022?

The ability to access your data depends on which version of QuickBooks you're using and at what point in time, helebie.

Can you also tell us when your account expired? If you had QuickBooks Desktop Plus 2023, your data will be converted into a read-only file for one year after your subscription ends. During this time, you can still log in to your account and export your data for record-keeping.

You just need to follow the usual steps of opening your company file. Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. If the No Company Open window appears, select Open or restore an existing company.
  3. If you're already in a company file, go to the File menu, and then select Open or Restore Company.
  4. Follow the succeeding steps to look for the company file and access it.

However, if you're past that period, you'll need to renew your subscription to regain full access to the software. Here's an article about this for more detailsRenew your subscription or use view-only mode in QuickBooks Desktop.

If your data from 2019 to 2022 is on a non-subscription version (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop 2021 and earlier), you can still access your company file since the license itself does not expire. You just need to reinstall the software, then restore your backup copy to access your records.
