Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community again, GraceESMB. I'll share information on how QuickBooks works with the sales tax due, then ensure that your sales tax details are organized sufficiently in your QBO.
QuickBooks Online tracks your payment due dates in one place so you can avoid late returns and extra fees. That said, changing the due date for your monthly state sales tax reports is currently unavailable. This is to ensure that your tax data stays accurate.
You can open this article to see extra details: File your sales tax return and record sales tax payments in QuickBooks Online.
Furthermore, you can run a Sales tax liability report in QBO to see a summary of your taxable and non-taxable sales, as well as the total sales tax collected from customers to ensure that your sales tax data is always up to date.
Lastly, you may refer to this artilcle to see different details on how QuickBooks calculates the correct tax rate on each sale: Learn how QuickBooks Online calculates sales tax.
Feel free to get back in here if you have further questions about managing your sales tax. I'll be around to help, GraceESMB. Stay safe always.
I visit several states to vend at events. Most of these I only attend once per year. For most, the sales tax is due 30 days after the event. I have paid my taxes but Quickbooks Online will not let me record the payment. Is there a way to change the start month so that I can record these payments and reconcile my checking account?
