Paypal import messed up my books in TWO companies. It would be much easier to delete and start over completely, but NOOOOO.  Why is it not a function to delete an account from QBO?  My bookkeeper said I would have to switch to Desktop for this funtionality. This makes NO SENSE!

I can share some information about deleting your data in QuickBooks Online and start over, @kclarke2009.

You can only delete all the information from the account if your account is less than 60 days old. If it's already beyond, then you'll need to cancel the current account and create a new one.

If the account is less than 60 days:

1. Login to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
2. Delete all the text after the last / and enter purgecompany (Example: from https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/homepage to https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany).
3. Type Yes to confirm the deletion and then Wipe data.

If it's beyond 60 days:

1. Cancel your current account from the Account and Settings.
2. Sign up for a new account by going to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/pricing/.

I agree with you. This is a serious oversight. I need to delete multiple estimates as well that were created accidentally when making new templates. I have like 3 steps to take for each transaction and wait for it to load each time. Staring at the computer that long is insanity for something that should be so simple. 

I don't think they could have possibly made the desktop version any more different from the online version either. It is hard enough to figure it out in the first place without having simple core features not existent.

I can't believe it when I see how long ago people posted about several of these key issues. Being able to batch delete is such a basic and necessary function.

I guess that's the service you get from these mega corps. It is cute how they act like they care. I am certain a lot of customer service reps would like to help but they have zero control over any of it and are forced to post ridiculous replies.

You have to wonder if the developers have ever used their own software, or why a company this wealthy can't  have better quality control.

By the by. I ended getting a plugin/ third party application of some kind and it worked. 

I agree. The developers, UX and product team should be kind of ashamed that they aren't addressing such frustrating problems, and yes it's "cute" that QuickBooks goes on about how they care about small business and continue to frustrate them by adding features we don't care about and omitting the ones we do care about LOL. Square is the same. 

I literally cannot believe that in 2022, I cannot BULK DELETE A LIST OF TRANSACTIONS in this software. I also cannot believe that because a badly formatted import to our bank, which caused 4 sets of duplicates in the register (4,000+ entries), that I could simply not just delete the register and start again. I also learned today that if you want to EXCLUDE this mistaken/duplicated information from a profit and loss statement, that you have to UPGRADE to the next plan, which doubles your monthly cost. 

To fix this mistake (that had nothing to do with us), I had to UNSUBSCRIBE, create a BRAND-NEW Quickbooks account with another email account, SIGN BACK UP for a monthly subscription and then import a CSV file to start over. Are you really kidding me right now?

I literally cannot believe that I am paying you a monthly charge to use this mess. As a matter of fact, we have decided to no longer pay a monthly fee for a service that you CANNOT SIMPLY CORRECT A MISTAKE without COMPLETELY STARTING OVER WITH A NEW ACCOUNT.

Quickbooks is not an accounting program. It is close. I have been using this product since 1987 when it started as Quicken which used a check register for all your transactions; then it was expanded into QB. 

The corporation Intuit made a financial killing on misleading the end-user they could buy a cheap accounting software, handle their accounting needs and terminate their accountants. They they did this with Turbo Tax.

Furthermore, they got in bed with the accounting community and CPAs, getting their acceptance at the same time trying to mislead the end-user. In the end, they scammed both the end-user because their books were a mess, and they took advantage of the accounting profession be using them to somehow establish QB as an accounting software program while causing the accountants to lose write-up work/revenue. The product design is crap. Don’t get me wrong it is powerful, but they dumbed it down for the end-user to cut the fees from the accountants.

Furthermore, you have these software designers that don’t know much about accounting and finance; in addition, any suggestions to make improvements are never done.

Most accounting software programs have utilities to help clean up accounts, delete transactions and do other work on a large population of transactions. Not QuickBooks. 

I have a bookkeeper who enter a years worth of checking account activity for three checking accounts, and the only way to delete these transactions is to delete them one at a time which will take longer to delete them then it to add them.

I believe their are a few better products out there. And don’t bother contacting QB or Intuit, because it get people who either don’t know or have no authority to make improvements.

The way to batch delete transactions already input from the Bank Feed is:

Go to Banking
Select the tab Categorized (Between For review and Excluded)
Select the transactions that you want to remove and click Undo

I am sad to see that as of December 2022, I still can't batch delete the hundreds of transactions I have sitting in my CoA from a CLOSED BANK ACCOUNT that's not found in the banking tab anymore.
