HOW CAN WE LOAD A 2013 BACKUP FILE TO THIS ONLINE SYSTEM? THE OLD SYSTEM RUNNING 2013 IS NO LONGER WORKING. WE ONLY HAVE A BACKUP FILE.
Hi there, @SUNTZUSAM. I'd be glad to help you bring your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) backup file to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can use the trial version that is older than the QBDT version 2018. Then, use the File Restoration tool to avoid errors when migrating the data to QBO. I'd recommend speaking with your accountant to help you with this process.
Since you had the backup, you can make another copy of the file just in case there are errors along the process. Once done, you can download the free trial and open the backup company file from there. Here's the link for the QBDT trial: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
After that, you can start migrating your data from QBDT to QBO. Make sure that your company file isn’t too big to export.
Go to the File menu on the left pane.
Select Utilities, then choose Copy Company File for QuickBooks Online.
Click Start your export. Leave your account open.
Log in to QBO as an admin, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Pick the online account in the Choose online company drop-down and click Continue.
Enter Agree in the text field, then click Replace.
Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace.
Do you need to migrate data from QBD 2013 US version to QBO US version? Install the trial version for QBD 2021 as mentioned by MarsStephanieLto upgrade your file and migrate to QBO. If you encounter any error to restore your backup file on QBD 2021, you may need to upgrade the file on the trial license for QBD 2015 and 2019 as the stepping stones.
