Hi there, @SUNTZUSAM. I'd be glad to help you bring your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) backup file to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can use the trial version that is older than the QBDT version 2018. Then, use the File Restoration tool to avoid errors when migrating the data to QBO. I'd recommend speaking with your accountant to help you with this process.
Since you had the backup, you can make another copy of the file just in case there are errors along the process. Once done, you can download the free trial and open the backup company file from there. Here's the link for the QBDT trial: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
After that, you can start migrating your data from QBDT to QBO. Make sure that your company file isn’t too big to export.
Here's how:
To know the complete instructions, you can visit this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
Lastly, run the Profit and loss for Online and Desktop to guarantee your books are match and accurate.
I've included articles about migrating FAQs, fixing issues, and topics about QBO for future reference.
I'll be here if you have other concerns. Don't hesitate to let me know in the comment section. Take care always.
Do you need to migrate data from QBD 2013 US version to QBO US version? Install the trial version for QBD 2021 as mentioned by MarsStephanieLto upgrade your file and migrate to QBO. If you encounter any error to restore your backup file on QBD 2021, you may need to upgrade the file on the trial license for QBD 2015 and 2019 as the stepping stones.
